Gri'lek is basically a Troll Berserker but in boss form. He has two basic methods of attack.

  • Standard Form- Hits for what is considered regular damage
  • Enraged Form - Size and damage dealt increases vastly. His normal melee hits cause 5k+ in damage
  • AOE Tremor - Stomps the ground causing anyone in his area to become stunned

Gri'lek basically cannot be tanked like most bosses. He will change aggro randomly like his Berserker counterparts and is immune to taunting abilities. When he is enraged, he can easily one-shot a raid member. The best method for taking Gri'lek down is to have all melee in close as the fight starts and do as much damage as possible. After a short amount of time (roughly 30sec) he will enrage. Melee needs to run away from him and ranged classes need to kite and DPS him from afar until he returns to normal form. While he is enraged, his movement speed is slower than normal. His enrage lasts only 15 seconds at a time but he will do it many times over the course of the fight. This process of in close, range kiting, and repeat needs to be performed until he is dead. Paladins and Priests need to help dispell the AOE tremor effect on any affected party members so that Gri'lek can not catch anyone and one-shot them while enraged.

Gri'lek drops his blood [wowitem]19939[/wowitem] each class needs for the ZG Epic Trinket quest if they have a voodoo doll.

His loot table consists of:

Just a thought - my son says that they don't fight Gri'lek when he goes into his enraged form. Instead an assigned hunter kites him to the bottom of the ramp, then feigns death. By the time Gri'lek gets back to the room he is dropping out of enraged form & it is back to the attack.

Im sure you can do either or. Im just posting suggestion as we have to see what works for us.
