One of the things supposedly introduced today is dynamic shadows...this is the first in a series of stealth graphics upgrades for the game (also including new models, new animations, new skins, etc)

These shadows, though, MAY cauase a problem on lower end / older machines, or machines that already struggle a little with graphics at times.

Dynamic shadows basically mean instead of getting an oval shadow undearneath you at all times, you will now get an actual shadow that is reflective of what you look like and your shape, and it will also enlarge and shrink due to the "time" of day and the position of the sun...

all very cool stuff, but this option CAN be turned off, and it also has the posibility of dropping your computer a few FPS if you have a lower end or older machine...chances are if you generally experience slowdown taking the flight into shatt, OR when there are tons of AOE spells going on in a raid your system wont handle these too well...

just keep an eye out for it, and if you notice a slower framerate than normal and you have an older machine, definitely think about clicking OFF this option and seeing if that makes a difference...

A few lower... so I can expect about -12?

from what i am reading its on a slider, so slide all the way down if its causing issues...ive heard that even some beefy machines bog down due to it...also ive read that putting it on the lowest dynamic setting still gives a really nice effect...

here is a vid giving you an idea what they will look like:

Dynamic shadows are a certainly a cool effect.  However the implementation is simplistic as the shadows are sometimes in the wrong spot relative to the light source(s) that are visible.  Multiple light sources don't appear to be handled at all.

I'm sure there be numerous threads on the wow forums about this as being broken.  Although fixing it would require everyone to upgrade their computers and video cards.

Theres a rumor that for Hallows End your shadows will do crazy things. Its not been confirmed yet tho, as of now its just a rumor.
