Title: The quietly introduced annoyance to the UI
Post by: Shadowwolf on December 28, 2011, 06:41:36 PM
I recently couldnt figure out why when I left clicked an NPC it talked to me, and I thought perhaps Blizz did that on their own on a per NPC basis, but then today I had some issues opening my mail. Anytime I left clicked the message it would only take the attachment instead of opening the message, which...is due to an addon I have called Postal. But...it is supposed to show me the mail message on left click and it wasnt.

Low and behold the secret UI addition last patch I was unaware of which has caused me trouble and I might add is a really STUPID idea when you consider this key point in WoW...

I turned it off a couple days after the patch was released.  Was in the User Interface section of the patch notes for 4.3 but it's just a blurb easy to miss in the much larger changes like the new content.

Blizz is adding more features to the game but lowering the awareness of them.  Blizz also added slash commands for target and world markers in 4.3. However Blizz never stated what the slash commands are.  Fortunately the community is filled with ambitious folks and someone posted the slash commands on the official forums.  This is useful if you don't have an addon for the world markers and have an addon that hides the blizzard raid frames since that is where the world marker menu lives.

The /wm command only works in party or raid.  In raid I think you need leader or assist.

Thank god, it was annoying to have to use the pullout Raid manager for those all the time.

The left or right click interactivity is not a wise idea tho with so many time sensitive things like escort quests and whatnot. I get the concept of making lazy people happy, but really how hard is it to right-click on an NPC instead of just left-click. Unless you use a mac, HAHAHAHA!

That particular UI feature is why I wound up flying to one of the bosses in Dragon Soul.  I happened to be close to the dragon when I clicked on it to target it and suddenly I find myself flying through the air... *grumble*
