  • [spell=42397]Rend Flesh[/spell] - Deals 5,525 to 7,475 physical as well as bleeds the target for 2335 physical damage every 1 second for 5 seconds.
  • [spell=42398]Deafening Roar[/spell] - Deals 1235 to 1365 physical damage and silences enemies for 2 seconds to all targets within a 50 yard range.

Strategy:

This fight is basically a tank rotation fight. 2 tanks are required to do this fight easily. While it is possible to do this fight with 1 tank, its not advised as the Bleed defuff the boss puts on the tank in Troll form will become difficult to heal through come Bear form.

Nalorakk alternates between Troll form and Bear form throughout the fight.

Troll Form:
During Troll form, Nalorakk will occasionally use a [spell=42384]Brutal Swipe[/spell] ability on the tank. Because of the damage output of this ability (~14k on plate), both tanks need to stand in front of him almost on top of one another so this damage is split between both and the Troll form tank isnt absorbing the whole attack.

During this phase, the boss is basically a Tank and Spank fight. The only issue is occasionally he will randomly charge a raid member for about 3k damage and then return to the tank. After he charges that person, he will return to the tank provided the tank is still top of his aggro list. Since the tank wont be building aggro during his charge, its important that DPS backs off some so they dont steal aggro, especially if they are cutting it very close in threat. Nalorakk is tauntable, so if he does aggro on a DPS the tank can pull him off them, tho its not wise as this boss can easily 1-shot cloth wearers.

Melee DPS should be standing behind the boss at all times so that they dont get hit with his [spell=42384]Brutal Swipe[/spell].

Bear Form:
Bear form is pretty easy with the exception of one specific ability the boss uses which is [spell=42398]Deafening Roar[/spell]. An unexpected use of this ability could cause a wipe so it is important for healers to keep the Bear form tank topped off in health and if HoT spells available, up and active at all times. [spell=42398]Deafening Roar[/spell] silences basically the whole raid for 2 seconds and he can use it more than once per Bear form change, while 2 seconds of silence doesnt seem like much, the boss can deliver upwards of 10k damage with stacked bleeds and basic melee swings on the tank so it is important that healers are on top of keeping the Bear form tank alive.

Tank Notes:
It is important that each tank for each form taunt the boss upon his change in each form and start building up aggro as quickly as possible. If DPS is pushing hard and coming close on threat to you as a tank, its advisable to use taunt when available to make sure the boss doesnt run, however make sure you are aware of when the boss is about to change forms as not to keep him taunted on you after the change.

The [spell=42384]Brutal Swipe[/spell] ability is generally one that can wipe out the MT if not kept in check. Both tanks should basically spend the whole fight next to one another or atop one another to avoid any risk of the full dmg being directed to the Troll form tank.

Positioning:

Basically the raid positioning should be ranged DPS and healers evenly spaced out in a half circle around the boss by the stairs and the Tanks facing the ranged group. Melee should take up position behind the boss at all times so not to get caught up in the [spell=42384]Brutal Swipe[/spell]. Ranged should space out as much as possible as when the boss uses his [spell=42402]Surge[/spell] ability, anyone within 15yrds of the victim will incur damage as well.
