Since we now have a video section on the site and it allows uploads of movies, Id like to encourage everyone who has a desire to make some WoW videos to do so.
You'll need an upload account on the video section, which I can provide for you, and uploading the files are very straight forward and easy to do.
You do need to edit it before you upload, unfortunately the server wont accept raw video and I really dont want 3g files sucking up space anyhow.
Tools you'll need:
- Recorder - FRAPS (http://www.fraps.com/) ($37) or some other recording software
- Encoder - (Divx (http://www.divx.com/en/products/software) (Free or Pro $20), Quicktime Pro (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/) ($30) or Windows Movie Maker (Free), iMovie (http://www.apple.com/ilife/) (Mac only w/ iLife Suite $79))
- Editing Software - (Windows Movie Maker (Free), Divx Author (http://www.divx.com/en/products/software/windows/author) ($20), Adobe Premiere (http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/) (Super $$$), iMovie (http://www.apple.com/ilife/) (Mac only w/ iLife Suite $79), Final Cut (http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/) (Also super $$$$))
Once you edit your movie, try and get it below 100MB in size as thats the current upload limit for the server. Larger files I'll work with you on a case-by-case basis, but you should try to keep things below 100MB. With Divx its easy to do w/o sacrificing quality.
Only rules I have with videos is:
- No Porn
- No taboo subjects like religion, politics, etc
- WoW related or related in some way toward you and the guild. (Not going to host your family home movies :P )
I'd like an upload account please, I think I have Imovie on my mac O0
Thanks Shadow :)
I'm not sure if anyone has or uses GameCam, but that's what I paid for way back in the day to do the Hakkar video. It seemed to work fine back then but recently I've had some trouble with it. No matter my video settings or the GameCam settings, my framerate drops to 15-20fps when I start recording, which is bad enough that I don't really like having it running during a raid. Does anyone have any experience?
If I can get it working I'd definitely get some videos going.

i stay between 10-30 lately its not to to bad until you get in an crowded place

Remember to scale the image size too... by default, fraps is gonna record at whatever your screen resolution is set to... means you'll get some giganormous files.
Recording hi-res on fraps is normal for huge files. I total about 4GB of video for ~30min of play. The only reason its smaller when I finish editing and all is because of the compression I use when rendering it.
