Kothnok

I've been thinking about how I play Kothnok and what kind of role I usually end up in and I've decided to redistribute my talent points a bit (would be my first time I've ever done so).

I'm thinking of truely taking a half n half approach to tank/healing by going 50% feral and 50% resto (had some points before in Balance, but with this build it would be 0).

This is what I'm going to try out and see how I like it:

It gives me the DoT to play with instead of the "root while running away" I currently have and haven't used since late 40's.  Also give me much more effective healing power than my previous build.  My Wrath would be cast 0.5 sec slower and I do 5% less physical dmg, nor can I shapeshift as much, but since the fights I get into these days don't really require those abilities, I don't think I'll miss them much.  I gain more threat for tanking, more healing for healing, insta-major-heal sometimes and even a DoT (gotta remember to not cast it on parked mobs like I can Farie Fire).  I look forward to trying it out. =)

Comments and suggestions are welcome!
No matter how often you refill the gene pool, there's always a shallow end.

Just a suggestion, and not a criticism as I think what you've got is very viable...

You might play with focusing on just bearform or just catform... if you go w/ bearform, you could go with a build like
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druid/talents.html?00000000000000005150501003000100505500150310000
and put the remaining 5 points in Gift of Nature or Improved Regrowth to really make a dramatic improvement when you're healing.

If you go w/ catform, you can drop the 5 points in Thick Hide, and go with a build like
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druid/talents.html?00000000000000005050020323000100505500150310000
again, using those extra 5 points to improve your healing abilities.

I'm not saying that either of these ideas would be more viable than what you have now, but they're the only suggestions/ideas I can think of.

Very good suggestions!  I didn't even think about focussing on one particular animal form.

After thinking about it some more and playing with the calculator, I like the bear form focus you suggested Dharq. :)

I thought about dumping the 5 points into the crit chance for Regrowth since I cast that healing much more often... but the wording of +50% normal crit chance seems to be of less benefit than +10% to all healing spells.  ie. normal crit chance is 4%, then the talent points would make it 6% crit chance.  meh, seems weak.

why focus on one form though? the beauty of druid-dom is that you are flexible...ive found recently running Scholo / Strat ? ubrs / BRD that in any one given instance I can go from OT one sec, to Mt the other, to crit heavy DPS with cat, to our priest wiping and having to backup heal battle rez real quick to prevent a total wipe...I am feral, but its kind of nice to know that all my gear is AGI and STR and that my talents are chosen to where i am both a good bear aND cat

And you can always maintain that versatility...

The problem is that you can't be as effective in any roles if you spread your talents around. By going heavily into the resto tree, the best use of your feral forms is found through specializing in one or the other depending on what role you find yourself in other than healing. We're not saying you can't do the other still--but you don't have the talent points to make all roles optimally effective, so it's best to specialize.

In the real world of WoW, generalists are never as good in a raid/instance as a specialist. And with so many spots open in raids, it's always better to take a few specialists from each discipline than to take generalists. It's the curse of the hybrid classes--and why they get stuck with healing gear.

By specializing in healing and having a secondary in bear or cat form, you ensure that you have two really impressive roles you can play in an instance--and it's always better to have 2 really strong forms/roles than 3 relatively weaker ones.

thats true...i completely undserstand your point about over generalization....i have  100% of my talents and gear towards feral....
