Title: Android Phones and privacy
Post by: Zario on November 30, 2011, 03:18:48 PM
So super ultra-security pro Shadow, what's your thought on CarrierIQ on Android phones?  Theoretically they have key-logged everything you've ever typed on a phone loaded with this garbage.

I dont buy phones from carriers. I get unlocked manufacturer phones only and this is one of the reasons why.

Im not surprised at all, but it isnt Google or Android doing it, its the carriers themselves like Verizon, ATT etc and its not all that shocking considering how underhanded they all are.

This isnt surprising at all.  Everything Americans do on the phone/internet is routed through "special" rooms in the giant telecom locations and recorded.   The telecom were even sued over it and the government wrote laws to give them retroactive immunity.

Purportedly its used to flag "keywords" in an attempt to prevent terrorism, but who the hell knows what or how its being used since there isnt any oversight or accountability over this program.

This new "censorship" over the internet was predicted as a result of the general public allowing this invasion of privacy to exist and continue.   It will get worse before it get better.
