I recently had a request to update a gadget I made a while ago (http://forum.twguild.org/index.php?topic=2750.0) for Vista (Feb 2008? dang, a lot longer than I thought...) and make it work well with Windows 7. Windows 7 got rid of the sidebar and instead made every gadget free floating over the entire desktop, but then required small popup controls to be accounted for in the gadget layout.
After a very long night of rewriting the thing from scratch (prior version was just a quick hack on an MS gadget) and a bit of help to keep me sane (thank you!), I came up with a gadget I'm proud to present to others.
Instructions: download and doubleclick. It will install itself and you just go into settings and pick the picture you want to display.
