External drive
« on: February 03, 2008, 10:46:35 PM »
I'm looking at buying an external hard drive. Any brands you'd recommend? Looking for about a 500gb drive to store/transfer files (need to convert a massive adobe reader document into word and break it down by chapters).

Transfer speed and durability are the two most important things for me.  I could care less about how it looks and if it needs an external power supply.

Thanks

(oh, the limits of my places to shop are basically best buy and walmart)

I have only good things to say about Seagate. Haven't bought another brand in years, never had one quit on me. And you really should check prices someplace like newegg.com before you go to a "bricks-and-mortar" store.
