Shadow is the typical leveling spec because from about 1-45/50, you don't lose a whole lot in terms of healing ability and you gain a ton of damage output and such. However, I had Emma spec'd deep into Discipline for farming and grinding in prep for BC, and with Reflective Shield and a larger mana pool I could grind far better than I could as Shadow.

No matter what you do or how you spec, put your first five points in Spirit Tap. It will improve your leveling 3 or 4 fold with its mana regen. Most people enjoy Shadow because it's, well, destructive, but if you plan on spec'ing back to Holy or Discipline once you've finished leveling it might be a little rocky. Leveling Discipline will give you a better feel for standard priest-itude.

Like I say, go with your first five points in Spirit Tap regardless of anything else. Then, it's essentially whether you'd rather play a mage/warlock-esque character as a Shadow priest, or a different priest-like toon.

Splurge and keep your priest up to date with the highest DPS wand you can, as with most even level mobs the easiest way to continuously chain pull and kill is to cast, DoT, cast, bubble, and pew pew pew until they're dead. Timed right and with Spirit Tap proc'ing, you'll kill a mob, have all your mana back before you grab the next mob and take little to no damage.  :D

I found that I did much better with blackout than with spirit tap.  That was a while ago though, and on a PvP server.

Full shadow is the way to go Muridin.  Pimp out your +int and +spell damage.  Stam and spirit after that.
