Ok those were some solid attempts tonight, especially that last time. Looking back we should have been tanking him in the mushrooms but just facing him away from the raid, I was personally afraid of moving him to much and was mistakingly thinking he would heal if he's in the mushrooms (but it's the moss that heals him).

Reading up on forums it seems that it really doesn't matter which class you assign to moss as long as they are mobile, so even melee could do it. I think it would be best to pick two guildies so that they can learn how to do it and this way we always have someone who knows how to clear it. The two people assigned can burn all of their CDs at start when hero is active and then switch between moss duty and killing the boss/adds. Clearing the moss also gives you a damage boost I believe.

We did really good last attempt so I'm sure we will down him this week :)

This is not going to be any where as neat or complete as Shadow's guides, but I'm going to do my best to outline some of the key features and boss abilities.

Trash is pretty simple; focus on killing the ogres first and then the saberon. Just remember to switch to ogres whenever they come out and to face fire elementals away from the raid (they have a cleave).

Kargath Bladefist
This fright only has one phase and it's pretty straightforward

Most important thing to pay attention to is Berserker Rush. When he casts this spell, he will target a random ranged player and starts going after them. The way to deal with this is by kitting him into one of the 4 fire pillars (there should usually be 2 active at a time). When Kargath hits a pillar he stops chasing after his target and is stunned for a few seconds. I found the best way to do this as ranged is either standing behind an active pillar or very close to one; this way if the boss targets you, he just walks straight into the fire and you don't have to move as much.
Also do not stand in front of the boss when this ability is active or you will most likely die.

There are also 4 tiger pits around the corners of the arena, falling into one of them will most likely result in your death. They are pretty easy to avoid, just make sure you are not positioned in a way to get knocked back into one during Chain Hurl.

Chain Hurl

Kargath does a knock back and then starts casting this ability. Only the group of 5 that is going up into the stands will run back to him to make sure they all go up. he then throws those 5 people upstairs. The group will consist of one healer, the tank that has 2 Impales, and 3 dps. That group then needs to kill as many as the mobs as possible before getting thrown back down. I know some classes do better in the stands than the rest so if you have any suggestions or would want to volunteer please mention it.

Impale

This is the debuff that he puts on the tanks. I believe the way to go about it is having a tank take 2 (using a minor cd on the 1st one, and a bigger one on the second) and having the tank that has taken 2 go up when he does chain hurl.

I will add/ edit more soon:)

Guides and Walkthroughs / Raiding Difficulty Changes in ...
Last post by Shadowwolf - January 07, 2015, 05:24:24 PM
To better explain the difference with Heroic, Mythic, etc as it is a little confusing if you didnt read up on the changes prior to WoD dropping here is a quick explanation.

[attachimg=1]

Raid Finder is still the same, however it can now scale from as little as 10 people to a max of 25 whereas before it was always a 25 raid.

Flexible no longer exists as a separate setting. All raids will automatically scale to difficulty based on the amount of people in the raid from 10 to 25 and this is now considered "Normal" mode.

The Normal setting from the past is now replaced by "Heroic". Heroic is also a flexible setting meaning the HP pool of bosses and damage output scales based on the amount of people in the raid from 10 to 25.

The old Heroic settings is now replaced by "Mythic". Mythic is not a scaled raid and is set at a rigid 20 person raid and the difficulty is harder than Heroic.

-----------------------------------------------

Item Level drops in raids are set as follows for the start of WoD. I would imagine this will change as raids scale through the expansion.

  • LFR: 640
  • Normal: 655
  • Heroic: 670
  • Mythic: 685

Found this video very helpful for dodging the fires which can be pretty annoying:
