Title: Need Opinions
Post by: Shadowwolf on October 08, 2010, 02:46:06 PM
Kind of want to know what you guys think of this:

Im considering using it on other spots of the site as a watermark and such for videos and some guild screenshots and whatnot.

I'm all for it if it's huge and obnoxious like the iStockPhoto watermark

I have a problem with the symbology presented. The crescent moon & star is a commonly recognized religious symbol. It would equally inappropriate using a hexagram or cross on the stamp. And given the mashup of individuals and beliefs we have in the guild, it doesn't truly represent us.

Why not use the phoenix as we have in our current guild tabard? It more closely ties into our in-game visual, and it could also be seen as a reference for the Dark Phoenix -- http://cata.wowhead.com/item=63125 -- guild raid achievement mount.

Didnt realize that was a religious symbol, otherwise id have kept it out. Just figured twilight = sunset/moon etc.

What about now? Changed it to a Pheonix

Added a ver w/o the weathered effect so you can see it more clearly

Watermark wise, I was thinking more in the lower right corner of our bosskill screenshots, videos, etc. Not some big obnoxious thing that obscures the view. Kind of like a brand symbol. Ive been meaning to come up with a logo symbol of sorts for a while and since I was doing this, figured this would work pretty well for the time being in that capacity.

I think it's amazing.

Also, for videos, I'd personally go without a logo for the duration of the video, but have a short full-screen fade in/fade out of the logo on a black background, if it works.  Having the stamp in the corner is just obnoxious, I hate when TV shows do it (and hate how big they've gotten as well, when they start moving and dancing and covering half the screen)

I missed the moon/sun bit, but I do like the phoenix motif. Like Dharq mentioned, it ties in well with our tabard and just plain looks cool. It'd be like each boss kill gets the "Twilight stamp of approval". Nice work, Shadow :)

Still at work on the logo thing on and off. Started messing around with the idea of a mascot image, figured I would go with a Dark Phoenix and see where it took me.
