Looks nice.  How's premediation for PvE and PvP?

Premed is great for going against casters. Cheap Shot on avg with premed gives me 5 cp at start, couple of backstabs, they come out of stun (make sure and get a few hemos in, gouge if necessary), kidney shot...there's 5 cp right there. If you're quick and they're alone, they're down in less than 2 min. I love premed.

How does it balance out against the loss of CB/SF?

It was actually a nice balance. However, since I got the eviscerate IX now, I switched back to CB/Prep. the change is only slight and I'll post it once I get home for lunch. I almost went back to Seal Fate, but serrated blades is just too nice to pass up. I'm not doing any more respec's until the expansion comes out (November 15 according to Amazon.com).

I love SB.  CB/Prep + SB is where I'm headed.

After reading the rogue forums for a long time, I have always been reluctant to talk of my build.

Seems the cookie-cutter ones are the only accepted ones.

But here is my build http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=w0xZG0E0MVZxre00GM (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=w0xZG0E0MVZxre00GM)

:P Kinda feel all vunerable for some reason now

I like it.  How does it work out for PvP and PvE?

I was thinking about going combat/assassination a while ago myself:

I would say that it seems the best balance build between pvp and pve

You have to be more tactical and adjust a bit more but I like it.

I was really torn on giving up improved sap or blade flurry on my previous version but I tried this out because serrated blades and the additional passive abilities seemed to be better.

I am still thinking of moving some points around maybe from the earlier sub ones to imp sap or possibly prep/hemo ... still undecided though.

Went back to CB/prep for a couple of weeks. Cold Blood is great, but I still find my old build better for damage and survival in both PVP and PVE.

I'm going to chug away 'till 50 then respec for a change, I think.

Well, I finally did it.  I got myself a pair of Footman's Swords from HH and respecced combat swords.
Current:

70:

I find I do a metric shitload of damage.  My paper doll damage has tripled.  The only thing that I miss are the 900-1500 backstab crits, but that was more than made up for by a 2k damage 1-point evis crit.

I wish you could get surprise attacks and CB.  That would be amazing.

Then everyone not a rogue would definitely cry that rogues are overpowered.

Oh boo hoo.  [rolls eyes].  Maybe they'd change that and give us a working vanish.

Hey guys... here is the link to my 70 build currently...

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=i0xZG0E0MVZEMe0MGRc0o (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=i0xZG0E0MVZEMe0MGRc0o)

basically it isn't much different than my previous 60 build beyond adding additional points in subtlety.

After I get the points there and play it out I may change my mind... still thinking about possibly amping combat more but currently this seems more ... me  ;) .
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: Darkling on January 29, 2007, 11:42:46 AM
I still think they need to replace imp kick with something else. Kick alone stops their casting for something like 5 seconds anyway. I would've gone with either imp sprint or endurance for those 2 points. Maybe even 2 points into lightning reflexes.
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: un4 on January 29, 2007, 07:51:54 PM
Imp kick is ok in PvP, useless in PvE, and not worth the two talent points.
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: Krieg on January 30, 2007, 06:14:05 PM
I have had it for a while... mostly for pvp...

Hmmm... you guys are making me rethink my logic about it now.  Guess I will need to play around with it.

Back to the drawing board.

i dunno how im gonna specc my rogue .... any tips?
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: Darkling on January 31, 2007, 05:36:44 AM
Really that depends on what you are mainly going to do with your rogue. Combat is all around best for pve as it gives a steady dps. Assassination gives excellent burst damage and sub gives better survivability. Assassination/Sub combo is great for pvp, going 41pt in either one is fine. Mutilate in assassination requires you to dual wield daggers and no other weapons or you won't be able to use Mutilate.

I haven't leveled high enough on my rogue to go into the sub tree, but camouflage always looked like a great choice when I did.  Is it not worth putting points into just because you have shadowstep?
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: un4 on February 14, 2007, 09:36:24 AM
I can see how it would have its uses, but I have yet to ever spend points on it.

I just built a sub tree for myself to find that it was almost exactly the same as yours, DB.  Revised my combat spec slightly for
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=whe0oxZG0Ek0VzxMGRt

and built a PvP build for giggles:

In all honesty, Shadowstep is not that great when you don't have camouflage. If the opponent is running away after you Shadowstep, you'll never catch him. In PVP, I only use Shadowstep on stable opponents. Mainly casters.

What I have been thinking about going to for PVE purposes:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?3040000000000000000003203052000550100013210005502011300301000000000

not sure yet though

Ooh, i like that build. But what about Riposite? Not that bad, i like it on my rogue. But hes all PvP so...
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: Darkling on February 20, 2007, 04:50:39 PM
riposte is great! until you go up against an opponent that is immune to disarm
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: un4 on February 20, 2007, 04:58:37 PM
I've yet to have that problem.  Works wonders against rogues  ]:D
Title: Re: Current Build
Post by: un4 on February 20, 2007, 07:14:44 PM
Since you don't like riposte (I know you already respeced, but oh well :P), I'd be tempted to go with this:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?3050030000000000000003200552000550100003210005502001300000000000000

Personally, I'm thinking about going to a combat/sub hybrid, maybe something like:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?0050000000000000000003200550100500100000000005502101332021003501000
Mmm, +10% crit.

For PvP, I might end up with:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?3053031000000000000002000000000000000000000005502531302021003501051

I went with this for PVP. got sick of being stunned and feared continually.

I missed prep, backstab, and ambush a lot, so I respeced!

Shadowstep is fun!  :D
Title: Re: Current Build

Well, here's my current spec:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?3053031050000000000000000000000000000000000005500530300301013501051

Here's what I'm thinking about trying for PvP:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?3253011050001300000000000000000000000000000005500530302301013501000

Opinions?  I really like the combination of Imp KS, hemo, and CB... plus the prep vanish options.

Ruthlessness I found to be useless for me. I put two into quick recovery.
This is my build since I don't use a dagger in MH for now:

I am currently using http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=fZ0eEd0Vzx0MoLxMe0Mhoo for a pvp/pve hybrid.  I'm about on-par in gear with a rogue in Kara, and I'm doing about as much damage as Panzer's shaman if you want a reference.

In pvp, it's pretty uber.  Very fast CP generation lets me stunlock, and S1 swords with SnD running do insane damage on hemoed targets.  In pve, I pull my share of the work and contribute the hemo debuff to all melee.  With the CP generation I have, sometimes I just blow an expose armor on the target if we don't have a warrior tanking, as I've already got SnD and a 5-pt rupture up.  The one thing I miss is 5/5 malice... my crit chance has taken a nosedive since I respecced from ShS daggers :P
