I believe GM Island is actually an instance and not so much a zone on the map. Thats why I think when you do a who on a GM they show up as not found, its a restricted instance.
Be funny if they just saw you coming and stealthed it on purpose, lol

i used to think the same but i got this map viewer that opens up your mpq files of the world map...you can fly through the whole and explore every little bit of it. At any rate, this was pre 2.0 and i know quite a few people who've edited some of their wow files so that the boat from menethil would drop them off at the GM island instead :p
I'd never do that in fear of getting banned or whatever but its on the upper left corner of the map, its a little tiny island with one of those big ferelas tree's and this unique little 2 story house that i've never found before in wow. Its got this little dock on the shore and thats it...i'd say its smaller then that zalandar island.
