Ok, now that that's out of the way, what's for favorite spec for your rogue? I'm currently 5/0/24 - prep spec with five in malice. That way I'm hard to find, drop out of stealth to do massive crits and start combat with as many combo points as possible.
What do you use?
Ouch!
I use CB/Prep spec atm. It seems to work well against game mobs and other players alike. I might switch back to Seal Fate when I hit 60 though. I miss that one.
Sometime soon I'll be making a set of test rogues at level sixty... one for each spec.
spec really depends on what kinda weapon you use....IE..sword/mace or daggers...and what you plan on doing with the spec...PVE or PVP
If you need help or questions on the rogue class, i can try to help..been playing rogue since release..
I use daggers only. Lower damage than swords or maces, but I get more speed out of them. I'm spec'd the same for now. Although I feel like Seal Fate built my combo points up faster (and even though it's not much, that 10 extra energy point was a bit of help).
Seal fate is a really nice build...but main question is ...Do you want a spec for pve or pvp purposes? CB/Prep is also a awesome build but moreso built for pvp purposes...Seal fate is more for pve.also if your seal fate you prob want more crit% and a harder hitting dagger, since crit = more combo points..
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0eMoxZhfi00yzZV0x <~~~is the best PVE dagger build..it optimizes your dmg but it kinda sucks for pvp...
Interesting... I'm currently doing PvE only to advance to 49, where I'll camp the BGs day and night.
This is what I was thinking about, a CB/Prep build with some combat added in: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0eMoxZhfi00yzZV0x
Well, I've respec'd. I am now 31/2/18. I had to keep imp sap for now. I'm mainly seal fate though. The 2 I have in combat went into sinister strike to reduce the energy cost of the ability. It is nice haveing that extra 10 points in my energy bar now due to vigor.
I did notice my crit hits do less damage now, but the damage is more often due to fast combo points building up. The mobs die faster ]:D. I need to try it out in pvp again.
This is the build I am currently using.

Looks cool. I was going to play around with talents after they update our tree.
I play around with them now...probably why i don't have my 60 mount yet.
Respeced combat with five in malace:

Even with a sword OH, I've doubled my damage and improved my crit chance by 5%. The new toys are also fun, but I miss imp sap.
I respeced last night to a modified combat deal. 5/27/19. I had to keep Imp Sap for now. However, I'm really not used to this spec. I miss my Prep/Premed and Hemo. I also miss my quick cooldowns of Vanish and Blind. I will post a link to show what point went where. Unfortunately, I have to make this work for as this respec took me down to 18g. Oh well.
im combat mostly on my alt rogue, and enough points to have imp sap with ghostly strike. the rest will go into combat swords/mace.
I lied: got two points in the wrong place. Here's the corrected version:

It took me about a day to get used to it, but I've grown to love it. I do so much more damage now; it's insane! I've taken to soloing parts of the SM for cash... something I found impossible on my priest at the level.
DB, what's your respec cost up to now?
Here is the spec I am getting used to now.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=i0xZG0Ez0EzZE0ccc
Interesting. I'm finding that I'm not relying on imp sap as much any more, so if I were to go combat/sub, this would be my spec:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=f0xbZGcEz0EzZE00s
Ok, got rid of that spec. Here is what I went to. Similar to what I had before with a minor change: Setup.
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=ihe0oZhZE0ccIGkqo
Setup without GS? O.o
I'd ditch hemo in favor of that, personally :Ghost:
Thinking about swapping to this:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?005000000000000320055010055010000055020013030000000
looks like a great one for a lot of damage and a little survival thrown in (imp sap - you must miss it).
So much. I couldn't live without blade flurry any more though. I miss prep at times, but it's not too hard to work around it.
The real advantages to this build are the (return - yay!) of the burst damage from ambush crits, the +10% crit chance with daggers, the +5% parry/riposte combo, and the OH damage increase while retaining blade flurry and imp sap.
The downsides are lower staying power than my current and lower burst damage than a premed build. All in all, I think it'll be worth it so I'll respec to this (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?005000000000000320055010055010000055000011000000000) next time I'm on before gradually advancing to this (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?005000000000000320055010055010000055020013030000000).
Here is what I thought about doing with Chekmate since he won't be pvping too much.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?305000000000000325055010005015023150000000000000000
That's essentially what I have now, and I find that it's solid all around. I miss a few things from sub, so I'm swapping back over to DPS the hell out of everything, but that should work wonderfully :)
On that, I decided to forego Backstab because he is going to be a straight up sword user.
Works well with your gear too. I've thought about it, but I'd miss backstab and ambush so much...
SS and eviscerate with dual swords more than makes up for the loss of bs and ambush dmg bonuses.
I've heard that sword rogues tend to out DPS us. What about you?
I think youd be correct there. My rogue is all swords and I do some insane amount of damage. My swords are a lot slower than daggers so im not as effective on casters for slowing them down, etc but I can take down elites quite a few levels above without a hitch and am always waaaaay ahead of everyone in groups on the charts and my swords arent even twinkish yet, just regular greens not even enchanted.
This is the talent route im planning to take on my rogue and see how it pans out. For me, shes going to be mostly a farmer character so Im not worried too much on her performance in groups at the higher levels. Thats the reason for the good amount of talents in Sublety (/sap, mine, stealth, on to the next vein).

For swords this is how I would go at 60:

Great damage, extra attacks, etc.

Same for me with daggers :P
You really don't need Opportunity if you're going swords, because you can't use Ambush or Backstab anyway. If you're dead-set on having imp sap I'd go:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?005000000000000320055010005015010050222310030000000
If you don't want the +3 to swords skill, put the point into Endurance.
Otherwise, I'd use this:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?305103105000000320055010005015023100000000000000000
or

For damage with swords, I would go with this. Since backstab and ambush aren't priority. I put 5 into malice, because of the damage added to garrote. It's a great ability if used properly (like all out dotting the mob to death). Just another spec to throw in there.
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?305010000000000320055000005015023155000000000000000
I'd just cheap shot for the two combo points, unless it was a boss immune to CS. I wouldn't be opening on those nearly as often to warrant 5 into opportunity, IMO. Slight modification of the last:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/rogue/talents.html?305023000000000320055010005015023150000000000000000
Im still figuring out my rogue, somewhat mysterious (no pun intended) to me still and im certain im in store for a few respecs to get it the way I like.
My primary reason for swords is during my play on Shadow and Ayrn and even Nahi, ive seen sword rogues just do solo stuff that made me cry. I figured since I planned Wolf to be a farmer alt primarily Id go the same route as I could take down elites and higher level mobs more easily and thus level quicker and get better drops for making cash. The improved sap was for the same reason, planned to stealth into BRD to make [wowitem]Dark Iron Bar[/wowitem]'s and mine the dark iron viens as much as possible so I could eventually get my characters revered with Thorium Bro, lol. Plus, its just fun to kill stuff easily =)
I love rogues. I'm swapping Dvalin to mining and I'm making Jhade my herbalist/tailor or herbalist/enchanter.
