Title: Gruul
Post by: Vengeance on April 23, 2007, 06:14:28 PM
So ive been thinking we could start on gruuls lair...20/5(cant remember) man raid, and the first boss is pretty close  as i can remember. Though itll be a bit till we reach Gruul himself, it should still be entertaining to kill the ogre king and like 4 or 5 ?? bosses right next to him, and any other bosses we can reach. Just wanted to know if anyone would agree to this  :)

One step at a time. We will get there in due time, theres plenty of road ahead of us before we get to that raid. When we can turn Heroics like regular instances and run Kara without much of a hitch Id say thats probably a good time to explore something like Gruul's Lair. Its a better idea to get the rest of the guild caught up, and in practice with raiding again rather than jump in feet first into a 12g repair bill and unnecessary frustration.

Probly was a bit hasty on it but it would be cool to see raids with more then 10 people in the Outlands

I agree with shadow and geno 100% - raid progression is very important, and right now this guild is not at that stage yet. A majority of our level 70's havent even explored the normal mode level 70's like tempest keep and such...

Gruul's lair is harder than karazhan...even if they soften it up in the next patch, so if we as a guild are still trying to figure out the 2nd boss in kara, then grulls lair is going to be very very hard to run sucsessfully. Also, right now it is a struggle to get the right components just to run 10 mana kara - we are either short tanks, healers, or something else...we jst dont have the amount of people attuned and ready for kara to be able to run it on a whim and breeze through there. Getting 25 people for gruul would be an even more monumental occasion, even with the lack of attunement process.

Heres how I see things happeneing: we run kara once a week, paying special attention to help out those whoi need a shard, or a BM run to get attuned. Also, while running kara, we start gearing up in the heroic mode instances as people can (it takes time and patience to get revered with those factions). You are seeing more and more heroic mode instances making their way to the schedule a good amoutn of people have gotten all the gear out of the normal 70 instances that they can. So while we are making our way through kara, we are also gearing up in the heroics. When we beat kara, or get really clsoe to mastering that place, we can start putting up gruul's lair runs and start the process with that instance.

how did Yakovs steamvaults weekend go for the CE rep grind?

if it went well, why not hold that for HH etc

It was a Shadow Labs weekend for Lower City rep, and it didnt go too well. Out of the 5 planned runs only the first took place. I think shadow labs isnt a very desirable instance to run, and require very good group makeup.

Indeed...sethekk halls is a bit more enjoyable, and youll def get a rogue for it (shoulder set drop), and soon epic druid flight form will have a ton of druids who probly know how to play unless their just do-quest-when-said-with-group-and-aggro-all

Sethekk doesnt give any rep past honored...thats what yak is all about with those runs :)

Its not that shadow labs is undesirable, its just that its the longest of the level 70 instances..you do get a really healthy amount of rep though...

Anybody who has their eye on an exalted reward for Cenarian Exp, Lower City, Shatar, Honor Hold, or Keepers of Time has to resign themselves to running an instance ad nasuem...I ran like 12ish Steamvaults runs in two weeks to get from revered to exalted...about number 6 its like, "ho hum...steamvaults again huh?"

well...there are some killer items to be had for exalted rep...lynnette got a cool dagger from keeper of time rep, tyban is going to get a really nice rifle for HH rep, uso a nice sword in HH, voc and yak an excellent mace from lower city, and I grinded already for [wowitem]Earthwarden[/wowitem]

My unsolicited advice is to shoot for revred with all of them (for the heroic keys), but only chase exalted for a faction if there is something you would like to get...a lot of the above mentioned items will be good for you well into the high raids like serpentshrine and the eye, so these arent items you will replace anytime soon...
