Post by: Arcdelad on September 25, 2007, 06:41:40 AM

Oh oh....it might be patch day finally! wootiliciousness for 30 min pally buffs.....but thats not it either...

Hmm....heroes was yesterday...taxes arent due until next year.........

oooh...happy birthday usonian! grats on hitting 26...i remember when uso was a beer bong hitting 19 year old that drank a bottle of vodka for breakfast and was foolish enough to put on boxing gloves and do drunk boxing against a hulking behomoth of a rich kid...

NOW - he is much more aged and wise - he wont even TOUCH the bottle of Absolut until 9:30...or 9:25 maybe.

For your birthday I will be sending you the collectors edition DVD version of "McHitler".

LOL Arc!

Happy B-day Uso, you youngin' you!  ;D And don't worry, the benefits of Stoli are still viable when you're 17 years older than today. ;)

Hope you have a great birthday!

halo 3 = less people online playing wow short term.

Less people online short term = higher prices for regeants and primals and such (less people farming equals less product BUT also less demand as less people are online wanting those items....someone do a quick supply and demand graph stat!)

Higher prices for regeants and such = more money needed for enchants, crafting, pots, etc etc.

Our money income hasnt changed (unless you are now selling regeants at higher prices), so that means our gold pieces now get us less per gold than they did before Halo 3.

Thus Halo 3 = deflation of Wow currency. Someone call Greenspan or Bernake quick!!!

It also means longer queues in BG's and Arenas potentially......

ROFL, I'll personally try multitasking Halo 3 and Wow.

I will still attend everything I sign up for :).

Having lower levels on both sides is a cyclical affect. So it could be equal, depending on the ratio of horde to alliance that drops off and if it is a permanent rate of drop or temporary spike. As for the markets can sustain higher prices for regents then they will go that way. Having an open market if someone keeps undercutting the price of something, competition will bring the price of such regents down over a period of time. What would also affect it is if the people that need the regents are the ones who leave or the people farming them? The ratio of that would affect the market price more directly then anything else.

To summerize, I like beer!

Can't forget Timo. ;)

Happy Birthday Timo! Hope you're having a great day!  ;D

Oh and this just in from Greenspan:

Drops in reagent purchasing, rising Halo 3 population and a host of other factors have spurred fears of a recession in Azeroth. While Federal Reserve Wizard Alan Greenspan insists the world is not yet in a recession and the economy's long-term prospects remain bright, he recently told the Lords and Ladies of Warcraft Universe more must be done to curb the current slowdown and spur the economy. Oh, and the Gnomes are to blame...

happy birthday timo!!!

LOL shadow and dry...im still waiting on some brilliant person to develop that insta-spell checker for WOW typing...

thats true though dry...some of the recent brilliant economists tweaked some of the keynesian models to account for psycology and such...maybe the type of person who will play Halo 3 non stop until his eyeballs bleed is the type of WOW player who enjoys inflicting pain on elementals and clefthoofs in order to grind grind grind for mats to sell...then supply would become scarce and demand would stay the same and our prices would jump. If the Halo 3 demographic is more the type of person who is a noggenfogger chugging, trinket toting, mind control the guy off the cliff, dot dot dot fear fear fear type, then our PVP is going to suffer.

I do think there will be a short term impact from Halo, but I dont think itll be long. This game is pure crack - you can't fight that addiction for too long :)

maybe that means the sub prime wow rate will drop and we can finally put some gold down on a low interest loan for a guild house...

Amen Threl! I guess 40+ is senior-citizen territory in the gaming world.  ;D  At least Halo 3 won't cut into my WoW time -- my last console was an Atari 5200.  :P

Happy B-day Uso and Timo!  I'll join you tomorrow at the ripe old age of 26!  We're nearly birthday buddies!

Now I have a bone to pick with you Nix.  I think we're all quite aware of your neo-classical economic shenanigans.

1.  I think we may find that price elasticity is actually going to be rather inelastic in the durable goods sector.  And believe you me that reagents are most certainly a durable good from a consumer's macroeconomic standpoint, as supply can't be adjusted in the short run.

2.  THAT being said, we'll probably see a Keynesian-like resistance to downward price adjustments once labor kicks in and adjusts its output upwards.

3.  Conclusion.  EVEN THOUGH we'll eventually get the Halo 3 players back, sellers will be averse to dropping their wages (read AH prices) because they've become accustom to their higher standard of living.  So unfortunately inflation is inevitable and in 'real' terms we're no better or worse off.

And in classic Zario fashion, I've probably killed this thread.  Sorry Uso and Timo  :-[

Your economic analysis makes my poor widdle enginerdy head hurt, Zar >.<

And in typical (nowadays) late fashion, congratulations on another year in the land of the living, Timo and Uso!
