Luise, Eravion, Iceblade and Snowhite will be off on holidays to New Zealand for 10 days. We will be spending most of the time at Lake Taupo and will visit the Hobbiton movie set of course. I hope the 7 yr old is not too disappointed - as she is expecting to see real hobbits! And I'm still not sure if I'm brave enough to bungee jump.
We should be back on wow by Christmas eve...but if not we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and I hope Santa Claus is generous to you :white_ornament: :pine_tree: :xmas_tree: :red_ornament: :tree_snowglobe: :blue_ornament: :xmaswreath:.
cheers
Luise

Be safe and hope you've a wonderful trip. :)
I thought about bungee jumping once - chickened out though. :P
I'm too decent to post the billion videos online of people meeting a gruesome end bungee jumping, but I'd skip it if I were you.
It's the aldor elevator of RL but you can't spirit rez :(
have fun in new zealish!
I recently saw a video where a guy crapped himself when he bungee jumped. His family was there, which made it even better. I laughed some... ]:D
Have a safe, enjoyable trip, Luise! I hope you and Era, Ice and Snow have a wonderful Christmas!!! :reindeer_smiley:
/jealous
I'm sure you don't need to much help having fun. But if you're LFG over there and have a summoning stone, send me a tell!
Have fun! Let me know if you see any hobbits.
Have a safe trip :tree_snowglobe:
Have fun Luise. Hope you have a brilliant time. I got my P's btw (first step of getting my full license here in australia).
And just remember this one thing, the only thing you dont want to hear when you go bunggee jumping is this, the supervisor says, "Oh sh*t".
Have a safe flight.
I'd recommend skydiving over bungee jumping. It's safer, lasts longer, and 10x cooler since you free-fall for around 10,000 feet. I did bungee jump in Queenstown, NZ (That xity flat out rocks) and it was pretty fun.
Well, we're back from NZ and both boys bungeed at Lake Taupo.
When we arrived at Auckland (pronounced "Orcland") the youngest (7 yr old Snowhite) was all excited and kept looking for Orcs in the countryside. We played along and the boys spotted the occasional hobbit as well :)
The 7 yr old (who wasn't allowed to bungee due to not being the minimal 45kg) and myself ( who did weigh enough but was too chicken) did some freefall at Agrodome, and did the Zorb (rolling down a hill in a ball partially filled with water - awesome!). I also went whitewater rafting (grade 3 only) with the 14 yr old son (Eravion) - that was my favourite day.
Some other fun highlights included hobbiton, Huka falls, prawn fishing, and my favourite...watching the sun setting over the lake - the kids were more interested in the sky TV and the spa at the motel. Waitomo caves were pretty awesome too, and we stayed one night in a hobbit motel, that was lots of fun.
The worst part of the trip was the scare we got when the earthquake occurred- staying near active volcanoes during an earthquake was pretty scary.
Second worst was the flight home...the plane started to take off, when we heard an aweful sound ...like someone suddenly driving in neutral....the plane then stopped and shutdown...then the engineer was called and about 2 hours later we were off...not very reassuring.
I'll attach a few photos if I get it right :)
(The first 2 are of the boys' bungy jumps. Is is bungy or bungee?
The next 2 are of me in the Zorb.
Gah! Bunggie jumping :o Crazy stuff.
Looks like you had a great time!
Nice nose in that third shot hehe ;)
Welcome back! Like Nix said, it looks like you had a great time. You'll remember that adventure for quite a while. :) I want to ride the Zorb!
I sent another post with 4 more photos- just noticed that I got logged off last night while the photos and post were being sent! (I went off to sing in the choir at midnight mass with my eldest daughter - and afterwards we stayed up and ate choccies and chatted till 2am - wonderful experience...unfortunately the 7 yr old woke up early looking for Santa :( )
Here's the other photos:
Hobbiton - looking out at the Pary tree
7 yr old in Freefall at Agrodome
Smelly pools near Roturua- the boys said it reminded them of the colour of the pools in WOW
Angora rabbit- used for it's wool

You are observant...I never noticed that...but it was one of the kids that took the photo...and they were laughing so much at my screaming as I came down the hill that it was hard for them to focus at all. :)
Hehe, sounds like a blast - welcome back :)
I'm officially jealous, Luise - NZ sounds like an amazing place... and a whole lotta fun, too!
My mother swears I'm going to be a world traveler after college (on my paycheck?!? Pffft.) I'll have to make a point to get down that way :D
Glad you and your young ones made it back alright - scary way to end a vacation imo :o

I'm a high school teacher with low pay and 4 kids that go to a private school and I have a mortgage. I'm not sure how we did it either, but if you save up a little each week for a few years...you can do it....and I asked family and friends to give them and myself money for early Christmas presents. We had real cheap accomodation- 1 week timeshare at Lake Taupo for $200- thanks to my sister. Also, we mostly ate supermarket food, with the occassional treat - Era loves his hot chocolates, just like his mum!
You can do it Fiere...but watch out! Once you get the travel bug (or that unhobbitlike sense of adventure) it's hard to shake it off. We're planning our next trip - umm after I pay off the credit card, fix the car, replace the oven that just died, pay the school fees, etc, etc, etc :)
I plan to go backpacking to Europe in 5 years time, so im starting to save now....
