Title: Brutallus
Post by: capnpop on April 02, 2008, 09:44:51 AM
Not a guide at all.  Just a quick look.

http://files.filefront.com/casual+vs+brutallusavi/;9935044;/fileinfo.html is a warlock PoV video

http://www.wowwiki.com/Brutallus is the wiki article.

If you get to the end of the video about half the raid dies nearly immediately as he berserks.  6 min timer to kill him, apparently most raids don't survive to 6:10 after that point. DPS output required to kill him is outright INSANE (each dps must put out a minimum of 1400-1500 dps over the 6 min fight and the average dps per-person needs to be about 1750).  This looks like a hard fight no matter how well you're geared :S

Yea brutallus requires a raid DPS of 29,167 DPS MINIMUM to beat the enrage timer. Thats over 1k DPS per person including healers and tanks so all in all, each DPS'r needs to be doing somewhere in the ballpark of 1,500 or more DPS. This fight is basically only doable, IMO, by guilds that are fully BT/Hyjal equipped as the requirements are just too high to beat if there is even 1 not so high DPSr.
Of course, I could just get completely and utterly bombed, increasing my DPS exponentially........

If I'm reading the WWS correctly, the rogue got 6 [item]Drums of Battle[/item] and 2 Bloodlust too. :P

Also, lol Warglaives.

I don't care what buffs you get... 2500 DPS is disgusting.
Also, as an example of persistence... look at their attempts log. They had 17 attempts on Felmyst in one night.
The amount of threat those tanks are putting out must be insane... granted Brutallus is tauntable, there is non-taunted time.

I want the neck he drops.  Any druids up for a stealth three-man?  ]:D

Also, the rogue:

I'd like to point out that his spec is in the rogue raiding post here.  Now you see why  :P

Yea guilds like that don't allow you to have any spec except for 100% optimal for raid DPS/Heal/Tank. No sub spec rogues in that guild I'm thinkin..... They also work for synergy with other raid classes/buffs. First example I can see is stacking stats (+str/agi) rather than AP because   straight stats are affected by Blessing of Kings. Or ensuring that locks have curse of elements/shadows up on bosses, on 25 man content with mages and other locks and SPriests it increases DPS a lot. (They also a lot of times dont let offspec DPS show up... no retro love --> although I did see a WWS with a pally killing Brutallus with around 1600 DPS)

Edit: Almost every Brutallus killing guild brings a super ret pally for imp. judge o crusader. He is dropping about 1500-1600 DPS on Brut though. impressive for them though. I can put up about 900-1000 under optimal conditions but I'm cheap sometimes and don't chug pots like a crazy person. They probably have 1 person of each DPS spec to maximize improved debuffs on him. (dps warrs, surv hunters, armor debuffing rogues etc...)

They probably have one ADRH rogue with imp. exposed armor for the debuffs.
