Plain and simple its one of the greatest things in the world. It can bring out emotions and change your mood aswell as outlook on life at certain times. i was wondering what you guys would call the greatest bands of all time, from the sixtys all the way up to todays music.
(feel free to include songs)
Personally i love :
the cranberries
counting crows
jack johnson
I'm a musician :P
As far as bands go, are you looking for the ones with the greatest contribution to music, or the ones we like best?
the ones you like best : )
Hrm... so many to choose from... Pink Floyd, Bush, Queen, RATM, SOAD, Foo Fighters, the Who, and Metallica.
early or later metallica?
Soulfly, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Otep, Kittie, Slayer, Hatebreed
QUEEN! ]:D
but I love all kind of music...except hip-hop or thing like that.
I prefer the oldies ;)
I could listen "Fly me to the moon - Frank Sinatra" and next song would be "Teenagers - MCR"
i was concerned for a bit...never know with some of you kids...
Good thread, I find myself kickin back to Nirvana and NiN DvDs a lot. In my 6 CD changer, I've got Slipknot, 5 Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Atreyu, and I forget the other 2. And if I'm forced to not rock out, Mickey Avalon is friggen hilarious.
I also like New Zealand's 4th most popular parody folk duo, Flight of the Concords. And Ted Nugent is my hero.
So I guess that counts as my array of tunes.
MEATLOAF...yeah, i said it.
Also, floyd, Queen, Led Zeppelin, sometimes some Styx, depending on the mood, for newer stuff I like new Rock. I don't really like Bands, just songs.
Flight of the Concords!
NIN is in town this month... and I'm not going :(
As an old geezer I find my favorite bands are steely dan, the who, zepplin, crosby stills and nash. When I wanna rock out it's iron maiden, older metallica, sabbath and judas priest. Oh another of may all time favs jethro tull.
I've been listening to Poe a lot (you know when you've listened to a band too much when you go to bed with a song of theirs in your head that you haven't listened to at all that day...), as well as a bunch of NIN, Rammstein, SOAD, Disturbed, Alice in Chains, etc. Ave complains that my music is too depressing XD
However! I'll also listen to anything from french jazz (Paris Combo ftw) to folk music, and even some (don't hurt me!) country and gospel are good in the correct doses. =P
Also, seconded on the NIN being in town while I'm otherwise occupied thing. The day they're in Philly is the day I'm leaving to go to the Outer Banks for vacation :(
Don't blame just me for saying ur music is depressing. So do a few of our friends.
I grew up (in the 60s) but early influences were sabbath, floyd, zeppelin, tull but whats really neat is my kids are listening to things i play. dragon loves linkin park and freak loves korn which i play here and there. My favorite band is testament (yea, i still listen to heavy stuff, not old farts music)hehe..and it was great that they just put one out after nine years, but ill listen to mostly anything.
