Looking for the PC equivalent of Apple's Remote Access software. We currently us that to cover my mother-in-law's Mac laptop. What I like about it is that as long as they are connected to the internet, I can take complete control of their system. The administrator files are on my Mac, a remote package on hers.

Father-in-law has a PC laptop and I need to be able to do the same thing while not opening them up to hacking, etc.

Any suggestions? Anyone using something like this now?

Thank you in advance!

In the past, I have used RealVNC: http://www.realvnc.com/

I used this quite a bit when I ran 3 different desktops around the house from my "command center" laptop in the living room.  It was especially useful because it could work with several different OS's and wasn't restricted to Windows only.

PCAnywhere, GotoMyPc and theres others also like Koth said.

XP and higher also has Remote Desktop already with certain flavors of Windows.

What Koth and Shadow have suggested are great.

What I use is logmein

It has a remote wake up feature that works great.
