i just take old games from my store over to EB Games and trade em for cards. Ends up only costing me a few bucks.

Yeah i had this happen, but it was intentional.  I waited til the last day to enter my new card number.  However when i went to enter it,  WOW said my account did not exist.  I had to wait til 12 noon e.s.t to get them to address the issue.  I lost half a day of playing time during my pvp stretch run.  I was none to happy      Lesson learned, renew early!
