So I've had the album for a few days. Yes, I know it dosent come out for another week and a half but everyone has their secrets. This LP album is totaly different from Hybrid Theory and Meteora. Their nu metal sound is totally gone and it sounds like Mike isnt even on the ablum at times. So far I've been trying to listen to it to let is grow on me of sorts, but it's not sticking. I wouldnt go so far to say it sucks...but its definatly different. Really different, just not Linkin Park I've know since High School. I guess they thought it was time for a change, and I would have agreed to change it up a litte bit, but I think they've taken it too far and fans are likely to create a bit of backlash. My favorite song on the album is the song "No More Sorrow" but mostly because of its bolero feel. Overall just prepair to be suprised/shocked. Definatly will not be PVP'n to any track on Minutes To Midnight. This is Linkin Park's version of the Mustang II of the 70's. Hopefully they will contiune to advance themselves musically, but keep giving LP fans what they love'd the band for.

"Wake" - 1:43
"Given Up" - 3:11
"Leave Out All the Rest" - 3:31
"Bleed It Out" - 2:46
"Shadow of the Day" - 4:52
"What I've Done" - 3:28
"Hands Held High" - 3:55
"No More Sorrow" - 3:43
"Valentine's Day" - 3:18
"In Between" - 3:18
"In Pieces" - 3:30
"The Little Things Give You Away" - 6:25

Yeah...listened to a couple songs and I'm not overly impressed.  They sound...very different from their other albums.  I was a BIG fan of Fort Minor (Mike's solo project).  After listening to the 2nd track ("Given Up") I was thinking that maybe AFI (or some other emo-punk band) took over...but it's still Chester.

The lack of the old sound is very disappointing to me.  "In Between" nearly made me vomit.  After I have an oppertunity to actually listen to it and figure out the words I may change my mind but right now I'm just at a loss when looking at this album versus their previous stuff.

"What I've Done" has some sounds of what most people think of LP but there is an evident lack of Mike in the songs.  Of what I've listened to so far much of it can be compared to "My December" without the fantastic Mr. Hahn behind it...

For parents out there: They use bad words in this album.

Whats crazy is they said they had over 100 songs at one point while compiling the album. I'd hate to hear the ones that didnt make the cut heh. I seriously dont know why they chose these 12 tracks over others. I know they could've done better. When I first heard What I've done on their myspace, I was afraid that the album might not be what I thought. So my fears were justified lol. Maybe Mike's absence is due to his FM project. It's definatly better than this album. Like I said there most likely gunna be backlash from fans who have been waiting since 2003 for new LP. If they dont listen to the underground CD's neways.

Is it sad I just watched that 11 times and sung it 20?

Vengeance

So basicly...im not missing out on anything(unable to hear these)??

Khanus

Basically, no not really. Not hearing Iron Maiden though is a crime. Not hearing the new LP CD isnt so bad, and I'm sure you'll hear some of it eventually.

Vengeance

I just meant the LP album, not the listed songs above  :P

Donno, finally sat down and listened to the entire disk 2-3 times (while playing WoW, just put just the disk in my playlist) and they have a couple good songs...very few that are in the same vein as their other stuff (I wasn't a terribly big fan of Hybred Theory personally) such as Hybred and Meteora.  Not nearly as much of the "electronic" feel that Mr. Hahn gave to Meteora which helped it be less like their TERRIBLE (IMO) Reanimation disk.

At times they strike me as an emo-pop/punk band.  Currently listening to "Valentine's Day" on their disk and it sounds much like Something Corporate (piano punk...oxymoron?) or a Jimmy Eat World-like band.  Very simple song, no Mike other than backround vocals (not rapping).

"What I've Done" is catchy and their first single.  Nuff said...

"Given Up" features a strong nu metal background with Chester doing his singing/screaming.  Not a bad song...sounds like typical Linkin Park.

"Bleed it Out" is one song that features Mike on vocals mixing well with Chester.  "I bleed it out digging deeper just to throw it away" is one phrase that will drive you insane by the end of the song since it seems that it was all Chester could say.  Mike's part just REEKS of Fort Minor in the best possible way.  Conclusion: Loved Mike's part, I could live without Chester...

"Hands Held High." Another Mike-focused song.  I love his voice and his flow.  If you are familiar with Fort Minor think of the song "Kenji" from his first disk.  Good song with Chester again repeating one line 1-2 billion times.  Very little of the "nu metal" sound here, mainly organ/drum background with Mike doing what he does best.

One of the biggest complaints that I'm seeing online about this disk it the lack of "angry Chester" in the disk.  "No More Sorrow" has him in full force.  Overall, he seems to be missing.

I just noticed that I compared FM to LP twice in this little track-by-track deal (not nearly all of the tracks...it takes too long) and while it's nice to see the cross-influence that these two bands have on each other it seems that each artist's own personal projects are breaking down their collaborative efforts into songs that you can easily put on one side or the other (not a good thing...).  We'll need to see how Chester's solo project turns out for him.  If it's successful I see only 1 more disk by LP before Mike and Chester split for their solo careers.

Ok, just watched their "What I've Done" music video and I must say...AHHHHHH!!!! /eyestab

LP's previous videos were artistic, well-done featuring some inventive way to represent both themselves and/or their music.  This video looked like some S.O.A.D. political/protesting crap.  I don't think that was their intentions but for anyone taking it at face value sees some global warming, anti-war, (insert some commentary about other world issues such as hunger, gas prices, fat Americans, and some other stuff...), ect... AHHHH!!!! /eyestab

Haaha cap, I saw the vid too...it sucked, even if the song was pretty decent  ;D
the rest, i have yet to listen too...
