Tip:  For the part on getting the tubers (I was a lot of things...), you need to save the boars as your whistle doesn't work like summoning a pet.  I works by attracting a live boar nearby (very nearby) to get you a tuber.  This is a lot tougher than it sounds because those boars didn't last very long (saving them was difficult) and the range on that darn whistle is so short.  If you fail to attract a boar to root up the mound, it disappears in a few seconds.  So make sure you have a live boar in range before using it.  I found this part of the chain as frustratingly hard as it was to challenge the 5-person boss with only 4.
No matter how often you refill the gene pool, there's always a shallow end.

The tubers will drop off the boars themselves if you just want to kill them instead of whistling for them.

Typical DB solution... I approve.
Don't expect a 100% drop rate... I tried too :P

The questing part of this chain doesn't really take too long.  Arc and I did the quests in about two hours and then just got a group together to kill the last two elites.  If you go from start to finish with a few people you could get the quests done in one sitting easily.

The tubers quest was by far the most annoying and time consuming part.  I'm not sure if it is bugged or what, but the void things will attack dead boars on the ground and the ones that do manage to pop alive aren't ever near tubers.  Sometimes you get lucky and one will stay alive near a few spawns but it definitely is frustrating.  Never tried just killing the boars.

The Heroics are another story...

Oh, forgot to mention that sometimes the boars will spawn and die immediately, with nothing attacking them.  ???
