For my money...there is no better work food / drink combo then coffee and sunflower seeds...

For starters...sunflower seeds are inherently salty, and this saltiness only gets enhanced when you get flavored sunflower seeds like barbeque or ranch flavored (David is the way to go methinks, but in a pinch the $.50 frito lay ones will do okay)...SO...while you are ingesting huge amounts of salt, you naturally get thirsty...while any sane person would drink water, a true javahead will satiate that thirst with COFFEE - meaning that as you ingest more and more nutty goodness from the seeds, your proclivity to drink will have you reaching more and more often for that coffee cup, thus making your coffee intake increase...its exactly why they put peanuts at bar counters - get you thirsty so you order something and turn a nice profit for the bar owners that want to charge you $6 for a black and tan...

Aside from the haste buff to coffee consumption, seeds also enhance the coffee flavor...plain seeds in and of themselves have a nice nutty flavor that when chased with a swig of coffee can taste really, really good....experimenting with different flavors of seed and different coffee strength combinations too can be pretty damn nice - think of Remy's flavor explosions in the movie "Ratatoiulle"...

there is definitely a downside....every piece of paper I tough today has a trademark "ranch" flavor fingerprint on it, and more then a few times I have missed the shell cup...but hey...thats what the janitorial staff gets paid for right?

I'd noticed that, actually.  I find it does better, though, if you mix salt with caffeine and do lines of it.
