"But... I don't know where America is on the map!"

..Sorry, that was mean. I'm sure some of those women are very intelligent, but I stopped reading the "We want you to apply to be Miss New Jersey!" forms after they asked me for my money and a "recent photograph". 1. I ain't blonde. 2. I inherited the "why are you being stupid" glare from my mother. Somehow I think it'd be used rather frequently in that sort of a contest. =P

As a land surveyor, and a Southerner (though not from South Carolina), I would like to assure everyone that some of us do in fact have maps. Plenty of them. I can even find places on them...such as Iraq...and South Africa.  ;D

I love how she didn't really answer the question.  The explanation that I've heard goes something like this:

Q. Please indicate which nation on the map is the United States.
A. [thinks]Well, the Good Ol' US of A is the biggest country in the world, obviously, so it has to be this one... [Points to Russia]
