(I was speaking to my 84 yr old friend who survived Stalin, Auschwitz and more. When she was a young teen she remembers paper propaganda from Stalin that frightened her and her family, saying that soon they would all be killed. Years later, when she was in a German labour camp she said she remembered the papers coming from the sky from American planes, but the Nazis wouldn't let them read or even look at them. They would be shot down if they did. So she was frightened but also excited when she saw the papers from the American planes- as it showed they were getting closer and that she may be free soon. When the American soldiers did get to the camp, they were so upset when they saw the terrible conditions of the skeletal prisoners, that they wanted to kill all the Nazis on site and Nadia actually stopped them saying "no more killing". They respected her and the German soldiers both good and bad survived. What I love about this courageous woman who has suffered so much is that she has no bitterness, and has forgiven so many. She is my hero.

My son (Eravion) interviewed her for his English assessment task - he had to interview an interesting person His grammar may not have been perfect but the content was awesome!)
