I'm officially jealous, Luise - NZ sounds like an amazing place... and a whole lotta fun, too!

My mother swears I'm going to be a world traveler after college (on my paycheck?!? Pffft.) I'll have to make a point to get down that way

I'm a high school teacher with low pay and 4 kids that go to a private school and I have a mortgage.  I'm not sure how we did it either, but if you save up a little each week for a few years...you can do it....and I asked family and friends to give them and myself money for early Christmas presents. We had real cheap accomodation- 1 week timeshare at Lake Taupo for $200- thanks to my sister. Also, we mostly ate supermarket food, with the occassional treat - Era loves his hot chocolates, just like his mum!

You can do it Fiere...but watch out! Once you get the travel bug (or that unhobbitlike sense of adventure) it's hard to shake it off. We're planning our next trip - umm after I pay off the credit card, fix the car, replace the oven that just died, pay the school fees, etc, etc, etc

I plan to go backpacking to Europe in 5 years time, so im starting to save now....
