This phone is TERRIBLE...so many times now I have called someone only to have them not be able to hear anything I have said, so I end up being treated like a stalker who calls and says nothing, or my wife says, "arc? arc? arc? are you there? arc?" about 500 times which is pretty bad too....also the damn thing freezes up once in a while, and you have to take the battery out for a bit to reset it....avoid at all costs:

iPhone ftw.  I've been holding off on my purchases of a new ipod, gps, phone and pda until I see the new $600 wonder.  I hope it doesn't suck.

I'm sorry to hear that your phone stinks

your wife calls you arc?  kinky.

this is what happens when companies try to make a phone do everything BUT make strong, clear calls.  and how are you supposed to use those tiny buttons to type?  my fingers would hit like 3 at a time.

Having had a Blackberry before they became popular and started using the Cell networks (Radio Frequency BB's were painful), its possible to type, just takes a lot of practice. You wont write war and peace and the first few weeks you have one you will type like Arc does in game regularly =)

Shorthand and abbreviations is a must learn to operate these things unless you plan to take your sweet time in replies. For me when I used one, the email replies I had to send were expected to be instant. If I didnt id be sure to get a phone call a few min later and the question was always "Did you not get my email?" They have come a ways and now the software will correct most typos in trying to recognize the word you are attempting at.

I love predictive text.  I can type much quicker with a standard keypad and predictive text than I probably could with a 'full' mini keyboard.  I can't hold a candle to this 13 year old though:

no...kinky is when I ask her to put on a succubus outfit :P

I agree with you 100000% uso...I often wish they just would have given me a normal phone to use...just something with a dialpad...I remember one time I was running late to pick up my kids and I tried calling the school and couldn't do it...I'm not an angry person at all, but at that time I wanted to open my car window and throw the thing as far as I could, or run over it with my car.

On the plus side though, its bailed me out a couple of times here in chicago, since I don't know my way around. I have been able to access Yahoo maps and get directions on my phone which has been uber-helpful since I don't have GPS. Also, being able to get on the guild website while waiting for my wife's train to show up has been nice too :)

typing on it isnt too bad actually, and it auto-corrects / infills a lot of stuff if you let it like shadow said. I actually type waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better in their than I do on a normal keyboard (using my thumbs only)...if only wow had an autocorrect typing add on id be set :)

shadow...i know what you mean about instant email response...it trains you to check your work email everytime you get a new message, which I kind of hate doing, but feel really compelled to do...thats why I am a big fan of "forgetting" my cell phone in my car...if its not around me I don't feel compelled to answer my emails every 10 minutes.

zar...this is a work provided cell phone, so I don't get a choice of what I get :) I do know that I thought I had lost it one time and they were going to take $400 out of my pay to replace it.....youch

This is what I do to do everything but call people on the go. The HP Jornada 720.

I have a Nokia 311 card that does GMS/GPRS (Goes on my cell bill, but lets me surf the net anywhere. I have a cheap 5MB plan from Cingular, but there are free or unsecured APs everywhere) and also wifi as well as a 4gb CF card in it. As far as software goes, I have two internet browsers the default IE that comes with the device(complete crap) and a hacked netfront browser. The default outlook cant do SSL, but I have a 3rd part e-mail client that can. I also have a WAP finder and a snorter. Got a whole bunch of other stuff to AIM, YIM, FTP client, and a bunch more stuff. HP made this right before the HP compaq merger so they dont offer any support with it as they went with the iPAQ doe H/PC stuff. There is alot of community support for the device, but it takes alot of tinkering. Alo you come up on som compadibility issues. For instance my Air card, i had to hunt one down as most companies dont make 16 bit air ards anymore and the 720 cant do 32 bit cards. Also Cingular is one of the few companies to do GMS which is great because there are a lot of 16 bit air cards. Most wireless cmpanies in the US use CDMA which there are very few 16 bit cards. If you live in europe it is all GMS I'm pretty sure so it wouldnt be a problem.  For a phone I use my silver razr I've had for 3+ years. The original RAZR phones were actually decently built (and much more expensive for it) so I haven't had all the problems the people with the cheaper phones have had. I absolutly love my Jornada, but I think thats because I'm weird.
